Montreal Canadiens/Hamilton Bulldogs re-sign Defenceman Shawn Belle


2009-07-15 14:53:00 CANADIENS SIGN SHAWN BELLE MONTREAL, QC -Montreal Canadiens General Manager Bob Gainey announced today the signing of defenceman Shawn Belle to a one-year, two-way contract for the 2009-2010 season. As per club policy, financial terms of the agreement were not disclosed. Belle, 24, competed in 60 games with the ‘Dogs last season accumulating 13 points (three goals, 10 assists) along with 93 penalty minutes. The 6-foot-1, 235-pound blueliner also played in six post-season games with the Bulldogs recording one goal and 16 penalty minutes. In four AHL campaigns, the native of Edmonton, Alberta has amassed 39 points (10 goals, 29 assists) and served 321 penalty minutes in 241 regular season games with Iowa, Houston and Hamilton. In nine NHL games, all with the Minnesota Wild, Belle has earned one assist. The St. Louis Blues 1st round, 30th overall selection at the 2003 NHL Entry draft has also represented Canada at the World Junior Championships on two occasions, winning the silver medal in 2004 and the gold medal in 2005. 2009-2010 Hamilton Bulldogs season tickets are now available!
